Pawsitive Beginnings: Foundations in K9 Manners & Social Skills
This introductory class is the perfect starting point for both puppies and adult dogs. Through positive reinforcement and Family Dog Mediation® principles, you’ll learn how to meet your dog where they are—understanding their Learning, Environment, Genetics, and Self (L.E.G.S.®) factors to build a strong foundation for lifelong success.
Your dog will practice essential skills such as sit, stay, come, polite greetings, and leash manners, while also developing impulse control and confidence in new situations. Puppies under one year can work toward the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy® certificate, while older dogs gain improved manners and social skills. This class is about more than just commands—it’s about building a respectful, supportive relationship that allows your dog to thrive.
✅ Perfect for strengthening your bond, improving everyday manners, and preparing for future training.
Beyond Basics: Pathway to CGC and Confident Companions
Ready to take your dog’s training further? This class builds on foundational skills and socialization, preparing you and your dog for the American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen® (CGC) certification. Using positive reinforcement and Family Dog Mediation® (FDM) strategies, we integrate the L.E.G.S.® framework (Learning, Environment, Genetics, and Self) to help you better understand how your dog’s unique background and instincts shape behavior.
You’ll work on calm greetings, loose-leash walking, recall, polite handling, and focus around distractions. Our emphasis on predictability and patterns helps reduce stress and increase reliability, while also fostering trust, confidence, and teamwork. By graduation, your dog will be better prepared for everyday life and ready to take the CGC test, demonstrating good manners in public.
✅ After class, you’ll have the option to take the official CGC test. Passing earns your dog the AKC CGC certificate.
